Sri Saumyakasi Sivalaya in Houston, Texas, is a significant Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

  • Significance: It’s the first free-standing Siva temple of its kind in Houston.

  • Activities: The temple facilitates spiritual and cultural programs, including Pujas for special occasions, teaching children how to perform Puja, and explaining the significance of rituals.
  • Structure: The temple features a contemporary design with a glass structure on a concrete pedestal rising from a body of water. A seated statue of Siva is located 13 feet above the ground, and a Shivalinga tops the monument.
  • Deities: Besides Lord Siva, the temple also houses deities like Rama, Sita, Radha, Krishna, and Ganesha.
