The Nithyanandeshwara Hindu Temple, also known as KAILASA Houston, is a spiritual center located in Houston, Texas, at 14140 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077. The temple is dedicated to Hindu traditions, practices, and community gatherings. It was inaugurated in 2017.
The temple was founded and consecrated by His Holiness (H.H.) Paramahamsa Sri Nithyananda (also known as Bhagavan Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam). The Houston temple was consecrated by him through a special “Prana Pratishta” (sacred energizing process) on Maha Shivaratri Day, February 24th, 2017.

Daily Worship and Meditation

The temple provides a space for worship, meditation, and celebration. It is considered a special place for removing the ill effects of planetary energies (Navagraha Doshas). The daily schedule includes both morning and evening puja and satsang. 

  • Morning hours (Monday–Friday): 9:00–9:30 AM
  • Evening hours (Monday–Friday): 6:00–7:00 PM
  • Weekend hours: The official website indicates slightly different weekend hours for pujas and satsang compared to the daily hours. However, general opening hours listed elsewhere are 9:00–9:30 AM and 6:00–7:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. It is recommended to check the temple’s official website for the most accurate and up-to-date schedule.

  • Largest Shiva Linga in North America: The temple is home to a 6-foot-tall Shiva Linga, which is a replica of the one in the Kalahasti Temple in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Vayu Linga: The Shiva Linga is also known as Vayu Linga (representing wind energy) and is believed to offer protection from air-related natural disasters.

Lord Shiva and Goddess Parashakti. The main deities housed at the temple include: 

  • Sri Nithyanandeshwara Paramashiva Linga: The presiding deity is a 6-foot-tall Shiva Linga, which is a replica of the one in the Kalahasti Temple in India and represents wind energy (Vayu Linga).
  • Devi Nithyanandeshwari: The divine consort of Paramashiva, an embodiment of the Cosmic Mother (Devi Meenakshi), standing 5 feet tall.
  • Sri Ananda Ganesha: The remover of obstacles.
  • Sri Ananda Venkateshwara (Lord Vishnu) and Devi Mahalakshmi (Goddess of wealth), who resides in his heart.
  • Lord Nithyananda Dakshinamurthy: An incarnation of Lord Shiva as the primordial teacher.
  • Goddess Durga Devi: A fierce form of the Universal Mother, Parvati, worshipped for strength and courage.
  • Sri Subramanya Valli Devasena (also known as Kartikeya or Muruga), the younger son of Paramashiva and Parashakti.
  • Sri Ram Parivaar: Lord Rama, his wife Maa Sita, his brother Lakshman, and Lord Hanuman.
  • Sri Radha Krishna: Deities symbolizing divine love.
  • Navagrahas: Embodiments of the nine planetary energies, as the temple is considered a place for removing their malefic effects (Navagraha Dosha Parihara Sthala).
  • Sri Nandishwara: The divine bull and vehicle (vahana) of Lord Shiva.
