The Umiya Mataji Temple Chicago is a Hindu temple located at 1800 Joliet St, West Chicago, IL 60185, US. This temple was built around 2016 by Patidar community of Gujarat. The temple is also dedicated to Lakshmi, Kali, and Saraswati, who are believed to be incarnations of Umiya. It was built by the UMSCM (Umiya Mataji Sanstha Chicago Midwest), an organization dedicated to the peace and prosperity of the Kadva Patidar community.
Umiya Mata is a deity worshipped by the Kadva Patidar community. She is considered the consort of Shiva and the daughter of Parvatraj Daksha, embodying the supreme power of ‘Shakti’ and the mother of Ganesha. The name “Umiya” derives from “Uma,” meaning mother. According to mythology, Umiya was established by Lord Shankar in Unjha, where King Vrajpal Sinhji later built a temple.
Umiya Mata is a Hindu goddess and the patron deity of the Kadava Patidar community in Gujarat, India. She is also known as Shakti, Durga, and Kaali. Unlike other depication of Durga Ma where her vahan is Lion or Tiger in this form cow is her vahan.

The Umiya Mataji Temple Chicago also celebrates major Hindu festivals, including Holi, Diwali, and Janmashtami. The temple hosts a Holi celebration every year, attracting over 500 participants. The festival involves Holika Dahan (a symbolic burning of wood and cow dung) and Rangwali Holi (playing with colored powders and water). During the Holi celebration, the temple provides snacks and dinner free of charge as families participate in prayers, dances, and devotional songs.

  • Sunday: 9 AM to 8 PM
